‘Ubuhle be ntombi nto! isimilo sayo’

My name is Nompilo Anele Gasela, I am from Emabovini in KwaZulu-Natal. I am currently doing am a bachelor of education Graduate.

My hobbies include,

I love to dance, sing and I also love sports.

I am a young female entrepreneur, my beads hiring business is called, Dungelihle. I also do promotions and collaborations using my social media platforms as I am an influencer.

When it comes to Arts & culture, I am a Zulu Pure Maiden. I started this journey at the age of 10 years. I was encouraged by my older sister. She would take us to emuhlolweni (pure maidens camps for virginity tests). I would see older girls and be so motivated to become like them. I must truly say that my big sister played a big ROLE! if it wasn’t for her, I do not think I would be the woman that I am today. But most importantly, I thank my mother. She really plays a huge role in our lives. If it wasn’t for her, grooming my big sister on how she expects her to carry herself. Maybe my older sister wouldn’t be someone that I looked up to. So my mother (MaMkhize) has always been by my side and supported every decision I take. She decided to put me on maidens group that goes by the name of “Ubuhle Bezwe” i have been with that group from my school years until now ( my final year in University). I am so proud and happy to be a part of this group although people my age are no longer in our group. So most of the young maidens look up to me. Our mother who does our virginity testing (osihlolayo) that goes by the name of uMazibuko always make an example about me. On how I’ve been on this Journey until now (in my university years) I must say I am very honoured to be a good examples young maidens. Moreover, I also go to other maidens camp. I like to explore a lot of things in this journey. I like different vibes. You also get to learn a lot when you attend different maidens camps. I always learn new things.

Motivation;

Being a pure woman (intombi) will never be out of fashion. Do not let people talk you out of ubuntombi bakho. Maidens set a good example to young girls.
