We caught up with international model, born and bred in Durban Sanele Xaba (26) #TheIcePrince who was scouted at the age of 15. He hasn’t looked back since. Sanele is known for his charming and ‘cool-dude’ personality. He has been on a few television talk shows as a guest speaking on living with albinism and the challenges he faces as a model. He’s not only a ‘pretty-boy’, but Sanele, is also a softy at heart. Besides his love for cartoons and a block of cheese. He is an international model, a change activist, and an actor. He is also the founder of the Rolled Sleeves Outreach Program. In August of this year, he was approached by @Ingrams_za among other public figures and celebrities to partner up on a campaign with the purpose of celebrating ‘skin’. The different types and shades of skin as wellas to discuss the various toxic stereotypes attached to skin. On this campaign he worked along sides @Lasizwe, @natureboy_ct, @Sindivanzyl and @Ody_Flamesunder the hash tags #YourSkinYourBrave and #Ingrams. They were invited onto@Expressoshow and @Afternnoonchat along with other influencers to talk more on beingmore confident in one’s own skin. @idlozi_magazine asked Sanele why he was so ‘amped’ to work on this campaign, he responded saying. “As a model and activist, I love working with brands that are aligned with my message.” He added saying, “The sad truth is that we’re not everyone’s cup of tea, it’s imperative for us to develop a love for ourselves without anyone’s opinions. You will go crazy if you seek others for approval and acceptance. Just be authentically yourself. Love on yourself every day.” This was in response to the question on the rise of plastic surgery across the globe and the youth wanting so badly to meet ‘body goals’ and escape ‘body shaming’. We then asked Sanele, for his opinion on the killing of those living with albinism for ‘muthi-making’ purposes. He responded said. “I believe in education especially in the rural areas where these killings happen. So it’s really important that we as a society destroy all these myths and have progressive a conservation regarding this matter, I think by doing that, we can slowly combat the killings.
