Castle Milk Stout celebrates Ancestors Day

Castle Milk Stout, is calling on all South Africans to join in on their initiative to have 8 May recognised as
the official date of commemorating Ancestors Day. Speaking at the 4th Annual Ancestors Day event. On 8 May 2024, held at the Stay by the Inimitable. Castle Milk Stouts Marketing Manager, Mr. Khwezi
Vika said, “as Castle Milk Stout, this day is so significant that we changed our branding to add the line ‘pour one for the Ancestors’. Please join us in this initiative to get Ancestors Day recognised by going onto our website and social media platforms to sign the petition.


HRH Zolani Mkiva, Secretary-General of CONTRALESA, added that, “the critical thing that we are perusing is for our government to recognise this day. We believe that the national calendar on its current state needs to be relooked to ensure that it accommodates African Spirituality.”
On the question of the date selected to commemorate Ancestors Day. Gogo Dineo Ndlanzi said, “8 May was
chosen because the number 8 is a symbol of infinity. And we wish for our coming generation to explore their
abilities to infinity. And the month of May is Africa Month.”

Also in attendance was Chief Kgosi TM Seatlholo who is also the Chairperson of the National House of
Traditional and Koi-San Leaders. Who said that South Africans are onboard this initiative and are in support of Ancestors Day, as one can see this in ur youth and in all ethnic groups across the Country. South Africans are now embracing themselves. Guests at the event included; Mpho Wabadimo, Bab’ Mahlangu,
Wiseman Mncube and Nelisiwe Sibiya.

The event was made more exciting with live performances from Phila Dlozi, Mbuso Khoza and the Soil.
Ancestors Day celebration was sealed with a special pouring moment, where guests in attendance were each given a Castle Milk Stout and invited to pour it on the ground as a symbol of offering to the Ancestors.
